Digital downloads and cancellation

Version 2026-08-26.1 · Effective 26 August 2026.

Who you are buying from

The Progress Edit is a business name used by Jake Cottrell, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. It is not a limited company, so there is no company number and no registered office. Correspondence address: 5 Portiswood Close, Tadley, RG26 3UQ, United Kingdom.

Support: sarahcottrell111@gmail.com

The Progress Edit is not VAT registered. No VAT is charged on your purchase and we cannot issue a VAT invoice.

Jake Cottrell trading as The Progress Edit is the seller and merchant of record for your purchase.

Card payment is taken through Stripe's secure payment form, shown on our checkout page. Stripe is our payment processor, not the seller of the kit, and we never see or store your card details.

Where we sell

We sell to customers purchasing from the United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — only. Orders with a non-UK billing country cannot be fulfilled and are refunded in full.

The United Kingdom means England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We do not accept orders from outside the United Kingdom.

The person placing the order must be aged 18 or over. The one intended user the kit is bought for may be under 18 — for example a parent or carer buying it for their child.

Price

£14.99 total — a one-off payment for a digital download. There is no delivery charge.

The Progress Edit is not VAT registered. No VAT is charged on your purchase and we cannot issue a VAT invoice. No VAT is added to the £14.99 price.

How the contract is made

  1. Review the product page and the order summary on the checkout page, which shows the kit, the file formats, the £14.99 total and that there is no delivery charge.
  2. Tick two separate confirmations. Both start unticked and neither is pre-selected: one covers your age, the UK, the Terms of Sale and the Personal-use Licence; the other is your express request for immediate supply and your acknowledgement of the effect on your cancellation right.
  3. Continue to Stripe's secure payment form on our checkout page, where you enter your email, card and billing details.
  4. Check and correct your payment and billing details before pressing the final payment button, which states the amount payable and creates an obligation to pay.
  5. The contract is formed only when your payment is successfully accepted. Until then you can go back or close the page without buying anything.
  6. We acknowledge your order without undue delay on the confirmation page and by confirmation email, which is your durable copy of the contract.

The contract is concluded in English, and all correspondence with us will be in English.

We store a record of your order, including the exact wording and version of the terms, licence and confirmations you accepted and the time you accepted them, and we send the same record to you by email. You can save or print these pages and that email at any time to keep your own copy.

What you receive and how it is delivered

Nine files (PDF, DOCX and XLSX) in a single ZIP of approximately 2 MB.

Nothing is posted — this is a digital download only.

Access is normally immediate after successful payment, through the confirmation page and the confirmation email. Your secure download link stays valid for 30 days and can be used up to five times.

Your secure link can be used up to five times. Each use starts a new download of the ZIP; we count uses of the link, not whether a download finished. If a download fails or you run out of uses, contact us with your order reference and we will reissue your access.

Files you save are yours to keep and your licence to use them does not expire. The 30-day limit and the five uses apply to the secure delivery link, not to the files you have saved.

If delivery fails, your link expires before you have saved the files, or your uses run out, contact us with your order reference and we will restore your access or reissue the link.

Software you need

Open the ZIP on a laptop or desktop. Microsoft Word and Excel give the most reliable results; compatible free word-processing and spreadsheet software may open the files, but formatting can vary. PDFs open anywhere.

The two CV templates (.docx) and the application tracker (.xlsx) are editable. The guide, previews, example CVs and example cover letter are read-only PDFs.

How you may use the kit

Personal-use licence for one intended user. One purchase covers one intended CV owner. The adult buyer may use the kit for their own applications, or buy it for one other person such as their child — but not both from the same purchase. This is not a team, school-wide, cohort, business or organisational licence.

If you buy the kit for someone else, you may give the kit files to that one intended user and help them complete and edit the kit for their own applications. That single intended user may create, save, print and submit as many personalised CV and cover-letter versions as they need for their own job applications.

You may not share the kit with any additional user, resell it, redistribute it, upload it publicly, repackage it, or use it to provide services to multiple clients.

The blank and source kit files are for the one intended user only. If you bought the kit for someone else, you may give those files to that single intended user and help them complete the kit; they must not go to anyone else, be uploaded publicly or be passed on. The completed, personalised CV or cover letter that the intended user creates from them may be sent to employers, recruiters and application portals in DOCX or PDF.

Full terms are set out in the Personal-use Licence.

Cancellation and the 14-day right

For digital content supplied immediately, UK consumer law lets you agree to supply starting straight away. At checkout you give separate express consent to immediate supply and separately acknowledge the effect on your cancellation right. Both boxes start unticked.

Following the separate express consent and acknowledgement you give at checkout, your 14-day right to cancel ends once immediate supply begins by making the secure download available to you after successful payment.

If the download has not yet been made available and you would like to cancel, contact us through the contact form with your order reference.

If something is wrong with the content

Nothing above affects your statutory rights. Digital content we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to have it repaired or replaced first. If repair or replacement is impossible, or is not provided within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you, you are entitled to an appropriate price reduction, which can be up to the full price. Any refund due is made without undue delay and in any event within 14 days of us agreeing that you are entitled to it, using the same payment method you paid with and without any fee. If our digital content damages your device or data and we have not used reasonable care and skill, you are entitled to have the damage repaired or to compensation. Your statutory rights are not affected by anything in these terms.

Problems with your download

If delivery fails, your link expires before you have saved the files, or your uses run out, contact us with your order reference and we will restore your access or reissue the link.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong, email us with your order reference and we will look into it. We aim to acknowledge complaints quickly and to resolve them without undue delay. We are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. As a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory rules and consumer protections of the part of the United Kingdom where you live, and you can bring court proceedings in the courts of that part of the United Kingdom — England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
